There has been loads of fires recently, everyday down at the sand dunes by the gunsite at Leasowe where I walk my dogs there is a different place been burnt.I asked one of the Rangers if they were getting rid of a particular weed or plant he said know they were not doing it,its vandalism.Just seems strange that peat was burning yesterday at docks and now Parkgate marshes is on fire.

I think that the ground is very dry even though we have had the snow it did not seem to soak the ground very much. Discarded cigarette ends seem to be the cause. This fire wont help the small animals and birds that live there.

According to the people in the post office it was a "controlled" fire that got out of control.

Looks like a natural firebreak there in the gully that is running parallel with the promenade. That should stop it coming ashore.

Oh no! All the marshbirds nesting right now. Sad. If it was a controlled fire, the outcome shows there was little thoughtful planning went into it.

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.

Read this on teh globe site:

http://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/1...ing_start_of_Parkgate_marsh_fire/?ref=nt

The guy was complaining that the fire services took 25 minutes to arrive from Ellesmere Port.

Now I know Parkgate is in Cheshire, But why didn't the Hewsall crew get called out?
