May i ask, is a 'cup cake' an elaborate, American sized 'posh fairy cake'?
As in, the Yanks measure ingrediants 'by the cup' as opposed to ounzes or grams. (i know this reading from my mums cookery books years ago)

To clarify, is a cupcake a posh over elaborated good old fashioned fairy cake?
