Just found this postcard on ebay and wondered if anyone knows where it is. It claims to be Ewart Street.

Its the 'old' Central Library on Hamilton Street with Ewart Street on its right and Library Street on its left. It was built in 1909 but demolished in 1929 to make way for the Mersey Tunnel.

More info in WikiWirral [/url] https://www.wikiwirral.co.uk/forums...kenhead_Central_Library_.html#Post275164

The building to its left is a branch of the National Bank of Liverpool.

The library on Hamilton st was not the one knocked down for the tunnel, different building.

The other thread on this shows that it was built in 1864 and known as the 1864 central library.

Oops! Sorry about that.
My editing went astray when I noticed the other thread.

Although the library building and Library Street are now part of a car park (opposite the end of Hinson Street), the last evidence of Ewart Street's location lives on in the form of a paved walkway alongside the office block.

Thanks for the comments but I am a little confused now. I have another picture of the old central library which doesnt look like the same building to me.
