After renewing my insurance early this month i have taken a disliking towards people who modify there cars and dont declare the mods. If you can afford to mod it pay the insurance, then when others declare the stuff the insurance company wont laff when you list off all your mods.

Its ok to drive around in a modded car as long as its not declared as standard.

working in insurance i know what you mean in the long run its not worth not declaring the mods, if you have an accident your insurers may ask for an increased premium before they deal with your claim or even a third party to an accident. or they will void your policy from the start which really leaves you in the smelly stuff as you have to pay a claim yourself. it might be expensive but its worth it really. or use a company like frizzell who will insurer a fully modded car but if you have an accidnet they will only repair it to a standard car.

if your planing on insuring with the post office and you have neons then don't bother because they won't insure people with under car neons

Each insurance company has its own qwerks so to speak,
so what may be true about one company may not be true with yours.

The answer is a phone call away.

Call your insurance broker and ask?

It is true however by not declaring modifications to your car,
can at its worst make your policy void..

I think the term "its in the small print" would apply.

Hope this helps..
