A WIRRAL man was shocked to receive a parking fine from the borough's "spy car" – because, he claims, he was driving it at the time.

Denis Barton, from Moreton, was charged £35 for parking his van on zig-zag lines in Wallasey Village Road, Wallasey, last December.

But the 64-year-old claims he was in fact driving at the time and preparing to turn left into a side road when the Smart Car snapped him.

They should do something useful with that Council spy car - like park outside Wirral's primary schools and see the idiots who daily park illegally and in places where they potentially endanger lives!!

Bidston Avenue (Tollemache Rd) being one...lazy b'stard parents parking on the zigzags right outside the school gates because they are too fat to walk.

Overchurch Juniors (Moreton Rd) being another...parents who park, not on the double-yellows, but the pavement next to the double-yellows - full car on the pavement!! Or in between the bollards that have been deliberately put there to stop the selfish b'stards parking!!

Rant over!!

mad

Oh and if they can't do something useful with the spy car they should drive it off the end of Station Rd at Thurstaston!!

Same thing happened to me, I was slowing down to park outside the post-office, but I wrote a letter and explained, got an apology and fine was scrapped, try writing and tell them what happened

Good luck

A pity the guy did not appeal if he was in the right, even if they turned him down (unlikely) it would surely make the authorities at least consider it may have been incorrect. I just read in local freebie about a guy who got a ticket for parking outside his youngster's school. He knew he was wrong but took a chance as it was only going to be for five minutes (?). The alternative was to park the car about a quarter of a mile away and walk from there. My God that is a long long way to have to walk (not). It would be far better for him,the child and everybody else to do that short walk even when it was raining.

WBC tried to sting me with a parking fine after I sold the car. I didn't park illegally.
I showed them the V5 of sale and receipt, they still said I had to pay. I said they had to provide photographic evidence of the car parked illegally. They didn't provide evidence, and then passed it onto a collection agency.
I sent them a letter asking for evidence and they said it was too late for an appeal, so I had no choice but to ignore it as they weren't listening and said I go to court to contest it when they were ready to do so.
A bailiff called round at my mum's address (where the car was registered) and my terrified mum believed the bailiff's claims he could come into the house and take the property (none of which belonged to me and I didn't live in the house) and paid the £380 fine there and then.

I would like to take this further as a) I didn't park illegally as I didn't have the car on the date, b) I shouldn't have to pay a fine for something I didn't do.

All of WBC are c*nts.

Have seen it on a few occasions parked outside Dodgshons Bakery, Magazine Lane in New Brighton at dinnertimes.

There is a parking bay outside for 3 or 4 cars, but this car parks blocking at least 2 spaces and then obviously photographs vehicles.

Easy Money, wonder if there is a time limit on these spaces, say 10 minutes and this spy car will probably exceed this.
