Hi guys. I've got a little issue with my pc and wondered if one you experts on here could give me a little steer.

About a week ago Avira decided that a file on my pc was malware - saying it contains a file that matches the pattern Bifrose.cihy malware. The file was a Spottify ripper that I'd tried ages ago and not bothered with so has been there for about a year untouched.

The offending exe has gone but avira keep giving a alert that:

"Virus or unwanted program 'BDS/Bifrose.cihy [backdoor]'
detected in file 'C:\System Volume Information\_restore{2EDB3281-4219-4A05-8F75-CA61D3A2266F}\RP684\A0050078.exe.
Action performed: Deny access"

I've scanned through with malwarebytes which cleaned some other stuff up but I keep getting the avira message. Should I be worried of has it identified something that isn't really a malware?

Any help would be gratefully received! grin

turn off system restore, this will delete all your old save points.sound like you have the malware in a restore file and your antivirus is picking it up.clean your computer up and check for virus again.once you are sure its clean, you can resatart the system restore and create a new restore point.also dont rely on one program for all your anti virus needs as some programs miss stuff.try malwarebytes anti malware and also spybot search and destroy.

Keep Avira and use Malwarebytes.
