I knew i would find a chopper bike one day,
Got given this last week
Its a bit tatty but complete,
so im going to restore it to its former glory,

My 1974 Raleigh chopper restoration project from start to Finnish

swapped mine for a grifter and a handlebar siren/megaphone.

I;ll never forget mine when i braked and snapped the gear shifter 3 guesses how owwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Class bikes! I had the small blue version of the chopper, think it was called a tomahawk. Had a grifter later on too it weighed about two tonne. Use to love putting and old rola cola can between the wheel and the back brake to make it sound like a motorbike! Ah the eighties!

1982 was the year for cool bikes,the raleigh burner! Got 2 of them in the shed lol

Stripped down the chopper,

frame/forks and chain guard
all the chrome parts need rechroming
Anyone on here re chrome stuff?

Its not too hard to chrome your own stuff, all you need is a car bat and the right liquid. Not sure what it is but im sure there is something about it on ubbertube...

update on raleigh chopper
its took me over 6 months to to collect this lot,
all genuine Raleigh chopper parts,

just need a front wheel and pedal crank now

Nice/great bike joe i had a red one in 1972 i did my paper round on it around bromborough pool for 3 years when i was 12 years old. Please keep up the good work cheers mike.

When/If i win this front wheel of eBay that's all the chrome sorted out Look here it looks like i might have to increase my max bid soon tho

new brake/gear cables
chopper stickers
cotter pins with the R nuts
new chain
paint

The total cost when the bikes finished, just under £800
