I'm pretty sure that S V = stop valve. 3Ft.6in. from the foot of the wall. It'll be for the incoming water to the building I guess.

On the corner of the wall where the toilet in Argyle St were

Remember using them after coming out of the Savoy but can't remember if the toilets were ever lighted

It is a "frog". That is to say, the decorative support bracket for an old gas lamp. Most, if not all gas lanterns in Birkenhead on those frogs were "Windsor" lanterns made by Sugg Ltd.

Sugg Ltd are still in business making the same lanterns using the same tools, dies etc. Yes, you can specify gas or electric. Make sure you are sitting down if you ask "How much". Also gas mantles ain't too cheap these days either. They break reeeeeel easy !

This is an unusual Post Box on the corner of Lorne Road and Alton Road Oxton. The letter box slot has no lip or decoration, just looks like someone has used an angle grinder to make it.

Also looks like it goes over the edge of the kirb!

There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. David Osland 2025

I wonder when that drinking fountain in Central Park last worked? (Did the water come straight from the lake??!!)

There was one near the entrance to Harrison Park I used to drink from in the 70s.

The Harrison Park fountain (not in use) was recently painted in black & gold. Only took the local idiots a day or so to spray paint it with white paint.

This pillar box might be a Victorian "Penfold" with the top knob or decoration broken off.

These I took on the way home from Hilbre on Sunday. They are at the bottom of Pacific Road next to the pumping station. All I can find about 'Lucy Oxford' is that they make or made electrical cabinets. Don't know if it's the same company thoough.
