Bought this off an SXOC member on Friday night. Pretty local - Leyland, so got a trailr to go and get it as its a non runner thats been satup for a year.

Needed the top end of the head rebuilding, an exhaust fitting, and all the intake building back up again.

Picked it up, and it rolled fine, no seazed brakes - which was a good start. Its a 1998 S14a with 87k on the clocks, 2 owners - 1st being Nissan themselves, and the guy I got it from for the last 8 years!!

I knew the guy I got it from, and have been in the car in the past.

Anyway, this is how it looked when I got it home...

...after a litte clean...

Spent a few hours on it yesterday, and got the exhaust on (Which he gave me) and rebuilt the valve train...

Today Ive built up the intake system, hooked it up to the BMW on some jump leads, and she fired up on the first try!!! Cranked a fewtimes, and then burst in to life grin

Runs fine, but has a slight misfire under load which Ill look at tomorrow - Im expecting either a leak on the intake somwhere (Cracked intercooler) or just old plugs / coilpacs.

The brakes also need a clean, but Ive checked the calipers and the pistons move freely.
There also appears to be a little smoke from the turbo area which I suspect to be a leaky oil / water pipe which Ill look at tomorrow.

...fingers crossed Ill take it for an MOT this week smile

Are they oil spray bars above the camshafts? Do the camshaft have oil feeds as well? I've only work on 1960/1970 non-preformance engines so just curious!

Gonna stick some tax and test on it, maybe run round in it for a bit, though ultimately I bought it to fix and sell... smile

Its also still got some trick bits on it (Was modified and has been put back to std) which will be going on the race car - B&M short shifter, OS Giken Single plate clutch kit, inc flywheel and a Z32 rear brake conversion smile

No mate, it was green algie frown

Sorted the smoke from round the Turbo area too - when someone has fitted the turbo they had nicked one of the copper washers so it was leaking a little water. As the turbo is so hot, this water was burning off before you could tell it was a leak! Replaced the washers and its OK now.

Also had the front brakes off - all pistons are free in the calipers and Ive cleaned the discs up smile

I also found a grille in the boot, its painted green, but its still a grille grin
