Friend of a friend was down there today before the fire broke out, this is what he said:

"We were filming with ********** and it broke out right in front of us! Insurance job without one shadow of a doubt. A dodgy van kept passing us as we'd parked in the disused car park. When we moved down the road to film the ferry, the fire started. Anybody want to put their names down for an apartment with river views? 150k?"

Make up your own minds lol

I went past on the bus and the fire brigade were battling with it. I think it's a shame it's been left like that. I know some local bands did use it for jam sessions. Manweb were there when I went past so maybe the electric hadn't been put off. It'll end up like the building in Liscard and the one in Birkenhead Park - shame the council and/or government don't give a stuff about our beautiful heritage!! Be a different matter if it was a bloody.......oh I'm not starting to rant as I'll end up having a stroke!!! somad

Why was an obviously empty building that had suffered a fire already not secured properly, none of the windows are boarded - they do that to council houses when they're going to be empty for a few weeks not this. Unless someone didn't have an interest in preserving the building.........

The council think we are stupid, its getting like an episode of Scooby Doo.
Next week we will find out that the ghost of the woodside hotel was Wirral Council Regeneration Director in a bed sheet...

Just an update on the future of the Woodside Hotel. Part of it has been deemed unsafe and WILL be pulled down next week sometime!
Its the extension to the left as you look at the hotel, the one with the flat roof. It also has THAT clock on it which the owner wants back as well as his `GUINNESS` sign!( i was hoping to nab them!!!)
Gonna have a word in a few ears this weekend and see about some inside pics for posterity, and a bloody good nose around!!!
Any more - time and dates will post! happy
