relative n00bs to the Internet would open an attachment sent via email. its all part of learning. Not everyone has the experience that Matty has to know what is right and wrong on the Internet.

No one picks up a book and has to pass a test to use the Internet. its the same as trying to drive a car without doing lessons, you are bound to make mistakes.

Hence educating people NOT to open unknown attatchments is important don't you agree??

The big problem I have is the fact that no matter how many of these threads are posted, and no matter how often people are warned not to do these stupid things, a lot of them choose to take no notice; hence my opinion that if they are stupid enough to open it and lose their data as a result, then it serves them right.

Matty, i was never taught how to use a computer, i was basically left to it and YES i did learn from my mistakes - in the past, a long time ago! Now I DO know not to open unknown attachments, but not all of us have the knowledge that you do.
Some are just starting and are nieve about "little welcomes" on our screens and do clicky on them to see if they will have a "good day"! Some people have a good day, some are harmless, but the mindless f$cks who like to give people "bad days" are out there.
So Matty, i am sorry i annoyed you and started the bickering, but i was only trying to help "our" online community!
Never know, one day i might post something of interest, but til then i will keep on trying!
