A major overhaul of the way cigarettes are packaged and sold - including banning branding and logos - is being proposed by the government.
The plan, aimed at preventing children and young people smoking, could also see packets of 10 outlawed, and cigarette vending machines banned.
Most of the plan applies to England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Similar plans have been unveiled in Scotland.
Meanwhile, a new TV advert campaign is targeting parents who smoke.
The adverts warn that children of smokers are three times more likely to take up the habit than those of non-smokers. Lol BBC News Report

lol, another way to make them want ciggarrettes more they mean. no way will they ban cigs (the government) they make waaaaayyyyy too much money from them. This is their way of advertising it as `good` in the publics eyes. Ie: they`re making out they`re bad but at same time publicising them more

Goverment will never ban ciggies cause it makes them to much money.. Goverment is stupid.. They should send in children as well to do test purchases cause one come in the other day in work but i knew stright away but he had stubble and was sixteen but im good with age.. Never sold ciggies to the underage but at the end of the day i might of served somebody underage cause kids look older cause they drink and do drugs.. So its a no win situation.. Get this i got asked for ID the other day im 26 the woman was embarrased LOl..

Get this i got asked for ID the other day im 26 the woman was embarrased LOl.. I was gutted in sainsburys the otherday when i didnt get asked for ID.. I was 28 last friday..and im having issues being 28...lol

they can do what they like but at the end of it all they make 9½ billion from ciggys. thats 1½ billion to treat smokers till they die and 8 billion to treat the rest of the public. Ban ciggys and everyone will feel it, the average smoker pays £45 tax a week if they smoke 20 a day £90 if they smoke 40 a day. whos up for the extra taxes to replace this abundance of money in the goverment coffers. This has to be one of the funniest debates of the decade. cant live with us and it will cost so much more to live without us.
