For £200 id be amazed if you even find something that goes forwards raftl

There was a bit of discussion abot this on the SXOC a few days ago. £200 may buy something that runs, but I doubt it'll be fun or RWD - if it is RWD its gonna be a shitter.

£500 should buy a decent 2.0 DOHC Sierra - fit an xr4x4 diff, and away you go.

...the LSD was also an option on the Carlton, and not all have them fitted.

quick look on autotrader shows nothing worth drifting for 5ton, mainly 1.8's, maybe a 2.0 estate.

Pity this is so far away..

Ideally you need an LSD to drift.

A welded diff is a nightmare on the road, makes the tyres scrub and the car just wants to understeer or oversteer and its very hard to balance.

XR4x4 Diffs are easy to find, Manta Diffs aint (Only the 400 had them std) and I also belive you need to swap XR diff internals to get them on to a cappa.

Of course you can always stay with an open diff, but its hard to keep the back end out and they can be unpredictable.
