There are plenty of hot hatches on the market, but it’s the Astra VXR that’s the undisputed Ring leader… and to prove it, Vauxhall has pulled the wraps off the Nurburgring edition, named after the car’s spiritual home, where much of its pre-production development was carried out. Based on the standard Astra VXR and priced at £20,995, each individually numbered Nurburgring edition will come with an exclusive all-white paint finish and lightweight white 18-inch alloy wheels, equipped with bespoke Dunlop tyres, are also specified. Other exterior features include dark tinted windows, carbon fibre effect mirrors and B-pillars and distinctive chequered flag body graphics, to further emphasise the car’s incredible performance. Mechanically similar to the standard VXR, the Nurburgring Edition produces 240PS in factory tune, giving it the ability to accelerate from 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. Each UK-specification car will also come provided with a Remus Sports Exhaust, developed with Vauxhall’s BTCC race team, Triple-Eight Race Engineering. Like the standard car, the Nurburgring Edition benefits from a six-speed manual gearbox and lowered, uprated VXR suspension with ESP as standard. Ventilated 321mm diameter disc brakes at the front and 278mm diameter discs at the back help slow things down, while blue-painted callipers remain a VXR trademark. The Nurburgring Edition theme continues inside, with carbon fibre detailing on the door trims and fascia, leather trim with the Nurburgring circuit graphic embossed into the unique Recaro front seat backrests and an individually numbered plaque showing each car’s build number. In fact, the only thing it doesn’t come with is one of those Nurburgring bootlid stickers you can buy when you do a lap of the circuit. Such a shame, as it means you’ll have to drive it there and buy one yourself.

BMW don't do anything for me. to many on the road, and they all look the same. And you don't believe the same is true for Vauxhall? My argument against BMW and Merc's, is that they lost all their class over the past two decade's, they used to be manufacturers that prided themselves on build quality and were classy marques, now they have stretched so far into the market that BMW even have a low end Rover in their lineup... Vauxhall on the other hand have never had any class to lose, I don't think the majority of people hate them and I dont think the majority of people love them either. They have a reputation as being cars that are there to do a job, and do it quite well. I would love a VXR, but like Stuy, I would never buy one. Id rather have an Alfa in the £20,000+ price range, but thats personal preference.

Isnt it just a factory std VXR thats been Barry'd from the factory?
...I mean other than some stickers, and carbon here and there, have they done anything to the car - other than looks, that makes it quicker round "the ring" than a normal VXR?

No stuy, it's the same car, but it was tested at the "ring" so to pay respect it they are releasing the special edition.
Doesn't even come with a ring sticker on the back to to travel to the ring to get one.
Or get one off ebay.

they ain't hiding the fact it's a normal astra just people buy special editions cos they want to feel special, take the clio 172/182/192. in order to sell more renault took stuff out of them and sold them as cup versions, same car different price.

But the 182 Cup was £900 cheaper then the normal 182 due to the things they removed and the trophy was only £2000 more then the standard one, but was tuned for racing etc, probably worth the extre £2000. It had allsorts of racing spec shite on it as it was the final RS Clio MkII. It is considered probably the best "hot hatch" to date by many enthusiasts and magazines!
£4000 is quite a bit more of a hike!
