The BBC has conducted research that shows some US users of its international website would be put off by advertising.
According to The Guardian, the corporation commissioned research in late 2005 which revealed that BBC.com users "unequivocally" believed advertising would "reduce their trust in the BBC brand."
The BBC has told the publication that this was "one of a number of pieces of work", and that later studies conducted show more positive responses, with the conclusion of the whole study being that advertising on BBC.com "would not damage the BBC brand".
The BBC Trust is currently considering whether to include advertising on the international site, the revenues of which would be collected by the corporation's commercial arm, BBC Worldwide. Having being deferred once already, a decision by the Trust is expected in October.

It makes me trust the bbc and its content more that it doesn't have adverts.

Its only the BBC Worldwide website that they are considering to put adverts on.
BBC.co.uk and BBC UK programming etc will not have adverts on as long as the license fee, in its current form, exists.
Its a case of why should the people of the UK pay for a service that is offered to the world (its only pennies, but thats the general consensus amongst most license fee payers).
