It possibly would... but it would depend what type of track it is.

A track with loads of corners and the F1 would have the upper hand due to its faster acceleration. But the faster the track, the less advantage the F1 would have, as its simply cant match the top speeds of the Veyron (360kph is about the top speed of an F1, and it starts stalemating at around 330, whereas the Veyron still actually has plenty to give at 400, its only restricted by the fact its tyres are road legal and simply cannot handle any higher safely, if they were to develop road tyres that could handle it, estimates say the engine would be able to push between 264 and 270mph).

Either way though, it would be much much closer then the F40 vs an F1 and the Cougar V6/Focus WRC vs an F1.

And one mustnt forget, as James said, the Veyron is still quite a practical car to drive about in (if you have the money) in terms of comfort, the fact is has a boot etc... And of course it being road legal lol.

I should add in a straight 1 vs 1 on the Volkswagon 5 mile straight, the F1 would accelerate to 300Kph faster then the Veyron, but the Veyron would obviously leave it trailing behind past the ~330 stage.

Best one that i seen was "Top Gear" i think.

But Jenson Buttons's F1 car
A Motor GP Bike
And a Power Boat with a running start.

Soon as the F1 got down force it was gone.

And with the others in the same frame it gave
you the perspective needed to judge the others.

F1 Car won.

That was 5th gear mark....it was good to watch..but there was no way in hell the boat was ever gonna win..as it wasnt even the fastest powerboat...nor was the bike they used....i think they wanted to make button feel good...so gave him crap opponents

Well it pretty obvious that the F1 would beat a MotoGP bike to any numbnut lol.

Take a look at the stats, the world record for a MotoGP bike is circa 209mph due to the 800cc restriction, whereas any F1 car can do upto about 228mph (the record is just under 230mph). Whilst the MotoGP bikes have the power-weight ratio advantage its very slight, the MotoGP needs to be at least 148KG - 160KG and can only produce a maximum of 260bhp (thats only the most powerful of bikes), whereas the Renault R26 last season produced over 700bhp, yet weighed only 600KG.

Hardly a fair comparison lol.

There is no way in hell anyone can expect a MotoGP bike to beat an F1 car, except on the very slowest of tracks (simply because the bike "may" find an advantage in cornering).

smile

Here is a test that Toyota did last year, you can see the F1 car leaves the bike due its faster acceleration (an F1 car for instance can do 0-60 in 1.8 seconds, whereas even Rossi's MotoGP can only do it in around 2.5 seconds), and although the bike does appear to start catching up just as they pass the camera, it wouldnt be for long as the bike simply wouldnt have the top end speed.

As stated though, its hardly a fair comparison. MotoGP bikes vs F1 cars. Two totally different concepts.

Not sure why Mark bought it up tbh.

If the Veyron were to shed a few pounds, ie, lose some of the comforts and coveniences and go road illegal, it would tear an F1 car to pieces, but being road legal and having the comforts etc means it would be very close to call, although the F1 would probably beat it on all but the very fastest of tracks.
