Houston, we have a problem.
Managed to pop my turbo the other night!
Dunno if I should get it fixed and back on the road (trying to take into consideration any thing else that it may need doing), or get rid as spares or repairs and start over with something else.

Dont know till the weekend when I can get someone to look at it.
All I get is black smoke and no boost, cant even here it working. The black smoke will be oil getting sucked from the engine, so that means I cant drive it for now. Ive had a quick look and cant see any damage to any of the pipes around it so it must be the unit its self.
It also needs; tracking, oxygen sensor and the tappets have got a lot louder since the other night. So not sure if it's done any other damage to the engine.
Now we are down to one car, going stir crazy 'cos my mrs has to take it to work and drop me off on the way so I'm stuck here till she picks me up.

Black smoke is over fueling and running rich - when turbos go they tend to chuck out blue / white smoke. The turbo could have seized though meaning air is finding it harder to get to the engine but fuel is still being thrown in. Turbos (the inlet pipe) also tend to suck the breather gasses from the crankcase as they create a vacume in the inlet, though if you have breather problems you normally gets blue / white puffs on the gearchange. Get the inlet pipe off over the weekend and check for play in the turbo shaft There should be no in and out movement and 1mm up and down movement - max
