One thing you notice is that everyone is so well dressed, even most of the youngsters are suited and booted.
I noticed a lot of collection bags on long sticks and a lot of blacked up men with collection tins which wouldn't go down too well today.

From 6.02, is that Birkenhead market in the background?

Albert Industrial Band procession from 6.11, were they Albert Memorial Industrial School on Corporation Road?
Times were certainly hard back then. Just look at menu and the measly amount of food they had for 120 boys. Shocking.

Following after the Laird Bros model ships comes the Birkenhead Corporation models at 8.38, what were they? I didn't know the corporation designed any ships.

Tranmere Gleam Band at 8.53.

Fascinating video, it is a shame there is no sound on these old recordings, that would top them right off.

Mike,

Birkenhead Corporation, Ferry Boats?

They never built them.

A portion of a report in the Liverpool Mercury, June, 1900.

I assume the same carnival though earlier.

So these are ferries?
They look like large ones if they are to scale.
Were they Irish Sea ferries?

British and Irish Steam Packet Company ran the Irish ferry service.

There were glass-cased models of the Lairds-built 1920s and '30s steamers, like 'Claughton', in the Woodside terminal, after the pay boxes obviously. At least one anyway. Probably donated by Lairds.
That was in the '50s, when I was commuting in good weather!

So many bands in those days!
The smart sailor lads must have been from the 'Conway' training ship.
