My family is thinking of buying a second-hand trailer tent for holidays with three children age five and under. They intend to join The Caravan Club.It will also be used for my Son in Law to do Iron Man events abroad.

Can Wiki Members give any tips, and nice camp sites they have stayed in UK.

i wouldn't let a campsite dictate where you go rather the location--then find a campsite nearby. There are campsite comparison websites.
Also when you travel--Cornwall in August on a weekend I would leave at 4am in the morning to avoid some horrible bottlenecks. Much less stressful driving on clear roads

Great site on a working farm, next door to Gwyrch Castle Abergele.

Wolds Way
On top of a hill so gets a bit breezy in the centre of the camping field but quite sheltered around the edges. Has a long driveway up to the site.

Slenningford WaterMill

Loved this site as did the kids, has a river running through it.

Our family has just started camping and been to a couple of sites:

Fron Farm http://www.fronfarmcaravanpark.co.uk/
Nice place, great for kids. Just outside Mold so not far to go.

Dinlle http://www.thornleyleisure.co.uk/caravan-parks/north-wales/dinlle
Near Caernarfon, pebble beach nearby which the kids loved, great view of Snowdon and a good spot for exploring North West Wales

Been using a mixture of TripAdvisor and http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk to narrow down the search. The reviews seem reasonably accurate once a few are on there and ukcampsite is particularly good for checking for facilities (electric hook up is an essential for us for example).

Thanks for sharing those links Garygadge, might be trying Manorafon soon.

Another vote for ukcampsite.co.uk as a great source of information on sites, also friendly advice on the discussion threads on any aspect of camping you care to mention. Masses of useful stuff on there, worth exploring.

My daughter will probably buy a 'Dandy'.She was pleased with the replies and will try a couple of the sites suggested shortly.
As her children quite young the working farm one will be the first on her list.

We had a Dandy for several years- very good for kids too from the point of view it didn't matter about touching the roof or sides when it was raining , with it being totally waterproof - and nice and quick to erect. Ours was an early model although with double roof, and we used to put newspapers under the mattress , and turn and air it regularly to avoid condensation underneath , but probably modern ones have sorted that niggle out. Overall a great bit of kit though. The 'fabric' it was made of , was as tough as hell. No way you could rip it without a knife. The later ones were really taken upmarket compared to ours. Im sure your daughter will love owning one.
