Nintendo has approached two Taiwanese manufacturers as it plans to outsource Wii components in a bid to increase output of the next-gen console.
According to a report by MCV, the firm is expected to announce SunPlus Technology and Wistron Corp as new partners.
Wistron will reportedly assemble the console, while SunPlus will concentrate on controller chips.
The site also claims that Taiwan-based Lite-On will become involved with providing power supplies for the consoles.
If the report is correct, the outsourcing of Wii production could mean an end to the ongoing problem of Wii shortages on the high street. Its good to see they are trying to get more available in the retail channels, atm, everyone wants one, but they simply cannot supply the demand. A console has never sold so fast before. Lol, the money and time Sony waste on ensuring their consoles are produced slowly for the first few months to make it look like they are always selling out and Nintendo dont have to perform any of these tricks, the Wii just sells out anyway haha!
