Which bin does polystyrene go into, please ? Brown, Green or Grey ?

The bin men have not taken it from the green bin, this is why I ask .

Thanks

Goes in any bin if hidden! I concur defo the green one. Despite trying to educate the kids I am still doing waste transfer every day at home.....Plastics seem to confuse.. looks like even the bin men don't know.
Last collection was the grey bin so did you put wrong bin out?

The volume is likely to be turned up to 'max'.

I’m a dustbin - really I am,
I come in black, green and brown.
I take your rubbish - and don't complain,
It’s smelly and disgusting - but it's all the same.
You'll never clean me or mend my nicks,
You'll dump me, thump me and store me in skips.
The dustbin blues...

Only on Wirral would the recycling bins be grey and the normal ones be green!

You're right. When my mother used to stay, my head was constantly in the bin picking out the wrong rubbish and replacing it in the correct one, due to the fact the coded coloured usage for bins were different to where she lived.

As a slightly different point. I went up Harrowby Road, Birkenhead a couple of weeks ago. It once used to be a tidy road with rows of terraced houses, and at least looking neat. Now it looks like the slums, (and that is no reflection on the people who live there), with all the different coloured bins standing on the pavement all the way along the road, the weeds are growing along the pathways and front garden walls of the properties . It looked dreadful and discouraging for anyone who might live there. There is probably more than one road the same as. Take the decency away from the people and the people loose their pride and the property price. In fact, it looked worse than many roads in a foreign country.

ASK: Why don't they have the bins at the back of the property, or is that too much trouble for the bin men to deal with ?

Now you mention it, its backwards isn't it.

Green bin, black bag takes all smile

Food for thought : Does leaving a bag next to a bin constitute Littering ?

The green 'all' bins were issued before WBC startd recycling.
(I only remember as this was just after I moved up here and it's always confused me that green is for 'green'!!)

Snowhite - that was a great list - can I copy it from somewhere, and one for the grey bin?
