now i got myself a pug 206 not so long ago as i figured it would be great as a first drive car. (i'm learning to drive now) but i have just this second recieved a phone call off my uncle, who loves modding his cars, he wants to sell me his Audi TT Coupe 225, it's from 2002 51reg with 33,000 on the clock. this all means hardly anything to me, he has modded it with a simple body kit, spoiler and rs4 18 alloys(is that right?) and has started on the interior but not done much. i checked on what car prices and they said about £19,000 un modded, my uncle says he's going to sell it to me for £18,000, which i figure is a damn good deal. i have the money i was just wanting some input on this... should i or shouldn't i?

i also realise that i could get so many other cars for a lot lower price than that, but this is a once in a lifetime oppurtunity, no? i'm still in two minds.

for the cost involved for everything it doesnt seem very realistic buying it, unless your absolutly minted. would be nice tho

well i won't say i'm not minted. but i wouldn't say i am. let's just say i'm comfortable.
thinking about all this though, the pros are it's a nice car already modded with full ice, it's cheaper than buying one new and modding it up, and it's in superb condition.
the cons are i think it might be a little too much too soon, and the insurance.
it's black btw, and i can afford it. i really don't know.

I'd get it, Tescos are good on insurance. TT's are quick/quicker than most buckets you could buy and mod for that kind of money, plus the insurance on a TT with light mods will be less than a Saxo with REALLY heavy mods. Ladies will love it too. If you're worried about wrapping it 'round a lamp-post,- I wouldn't, the 4x4 will keep you on the road unless you're going to be driving it like a total loon.
My advice would be to get an insurance quote, and if you can live with it, get it, you won't regret it. I'm 24 and insured on a group 20 car for under £1000 a year, so you never know!
