the engine was originally from a metro turbo (the ones they made between 1980-90). it the same enigne as a 1.3 mini but all they did was lower the compression ratio (to about 9.4:1 i think) sealed the carb and beefed up vital stress parts. their compression ratio was marginally acceptable.
basically you can turbo just about anything!
as for fitment into a mini, you have 2 choices regarding the bulkhead, you can either buy a 350pound manifold that only allows fitment of a t2 turbo (the r5 turbo is what is mainly used) but mean you don't have to cut the shell. or the other option is to chop away at the bulkhead to make room, and fit a 40pound bulkhead box.

forgot to add it came with an injection tank aswell! spent most of the weekend cleaning, and checking the spec. but also had time to improve the interior. i'm getting rid of the old worn out switches and replacing them with some shiny new savage ones! only have 1 at the mo but more will come soon..... ![[Linked Image]](http://www.images.cruisewirral.com/upload/002/2006/06nov/cruisewirral29008.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://www.images.cruisewirral.com/upload/002/2006/06nov/cruisewirral29009.jpg)

i'm finished............ ![[Linked Image]](http://www.images.cruisewirral.com/upload/902/2006/06dec/cruisewirral10010.jpg) ha got you all looking! nope still a while to go yet. just had to throw my engine in for now to make sure i was cutting the right place. seems a bit cramed in there, don't forget i also have to try and fit an intercooler in aswell! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.images.cruisewirral.com/upload/902/2006/06dec/cruisewirral10011.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://www.images.cruisewirral.com/upload/902/2006/06dec/cruisewirral10012.jpg) you can see there isn't much room for the carb ![[Linked Image]](http://www.images.cruisewirral.com/upload/902/2006/06dec/cruisewirral10013.jpg) and the parts of the turbo that get in the way! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.images.cruisewirral.com/upload/902/2006/06dec/cruisewirral10014.jpg) at the moment i have almost cut a whole for it. hope to have it welded in and primered by next sunday.

woow amazing looks really well, bet you cant wait now, should be fairly quick what do you expect 0-60 7-8sec???. Will the old fire wall go straight down instead of slanted in order to give the clearance?? Looks gud again

I know this must sound a bit strange but I like the look of those tyres. Really nice tread pattern, these the kind they sell for road use and track day???

they are nice ain't they! they are road legal, but are quite a soft compound. i recckon i'll need to replace them every 4-5000 miles (or less with enthuastic driving ;)), which i don't mind at all, only 80 quid a corner (the advantage of having small wheels!). you also find these tyres on the lotus exige.

im pretty sure it will beat 7.8, my mini only had the mg 1.325 engine in it and that was 8 ish seconds, so with that turbo, i reacon your lookin at high 6's low 7's.
