Crappy Clutch ,means you couldnt put the power down. I couldnt, it kept revving up, but didnt have the power. I've driven one with a f*cked clutch, so I know what it feels like and it was exactly the same. as a crap clutch wouldnt provide enough bite to stall... It wasnt providing enough bite, hence why I had to rev the balls off it to get it going. £100 for clutch parts !!!! £80 for clutch plate, pressure plate and bearing and £25 for a new clutch slave cylinder

Joe a knackered clutch doesnt effect the running of the engine at all.
A dead clutch means power from the engine cant get through to the gearbox. This means that when the car is in gear the engine revs up but the car doesnt accelerate - a bit like an auto when it pulls off, ie the speed doesnt increase at the same rate as the revs.
What If There Were No Hypothetical Questions?

The engine was running fine except for when I went to set off or went to accelerate, thus leading me to think it was my clutch. Cheers for the offer Robbo, but its sorted now mate

Recently hit 143,000 miles and still going strong. Went down to London last month, no problem. Clutch will still be getting changed soon though, just as soon as I find time and decent weather. Reverse camera has been replaced (old one got water in the lens even though it was waterproof?!) and is now wired and working as are all the switches on the centre console. - Driver's Heated seat wired up (Pretty sure the passenger one is nackered - any ideas on who to go to to fix this?) - Temp displays in, and fully working, just need to move the outside sensor to one of the mirrors as it gets a false reading if the car is stood still too long. - TV antenna wired up, just need to buy a freeview box - New reverse sensors (in white) fitted and wired up. Works spot on, 0.0m on the display is about 20cm away from my tow bar lol. Only problem is, as it transmits to the display through radio waves, the speakers pick it up when its switched on. - Started cutting a hole above the glovebox for a cup holder from a VW passat. Still yet to finish that job lol - Repaired leather seats with black leather dye. Come up quite well - Only before pics, forgot to take after ones lol Should be getting tints soon. Thats it for now I think, be doing more bits soon.

Yeah, will get round to them soon. works well and is worth doing. Been meaning to update this topic too, replaced the clutch and a few other things Reverse camera was a bit of a pain as I bought one slightly bigger than the boot lock, so had to file the boot and the plastic trim. I then had to replace the boot lock for a boot release cable which came from an MX5 (smaller car = short cable) Might swap it for an electric boot popper though and have a reserve battery, a bike battery for it in the boot
