Just a side Note : This upgrade is free for a year. There is no issue at all if you hold out for a few months.

Ask yourself why do Microsoft have service packs ?

They never get it quiet right out the door lol.

Food for thought, just saying your under no pressure to reserve or update.

Microsoft seems to be wanting everybody on the new Windows. This is set be similar to the Apple OS, as they release different versions you're updates come automatically.

My new Norton software has changed in a similar way. They have just called it Norton Security and dropped the year. The idea is you upgrade to their new software and its auto updated, no new version required to be installed every twelve months or so.

That's great but if your old PC can cope with the new OS in years to come. For example, this new Windows would work better on a new PC. Windows Hello needs new hardware to work properly and Windows 8 definitely benefited from a new touch screen PC.

We have twelve months to decide and the jury is well and truly out on this one. I'm sure we would all welcome feedback on here from anyone who has upgraded and what they think, good or bad.

Running windows 7
I'm not subscribed to windows 10 New Update.

Last night i installed a load of updates from Microsoft.

Now I have skype starting on start up.

One drive is now syncing files also.

And Outlook is now preparing to run for the first time.
And estimates about 15 mins to start as it reads all my files and folders hummmmmm think
My pst files are about 3GB Each so . . . . Yawn . . .

Looks like a load of security updates for Microsoft office.

I decide to wait and see if Outlook was any different ??
Nope !!

7 Days to go until those of you have subscribed to the New windows 10 and all it has or has not to offer.

I've noticed that for ages Mark. Computers do what they want to do first and then let you have a go on them when they're ready. Everything is "automatic". Tried scheduling and that doesn't work so good either. At least with the old DOS3 onwards you could tell the machine what to do, not any more.

For Mark, I had windows 7 it took around 5mins to boot up then like 3mins before you could do anything.

I've been in the windows Insider program from the start at 1st it was pants as it crashed doing anything but now I wouldn't be without it.

Boot up is down to 2mins and I can do anything, no waiting for thing to load, been playing my Xbox one on it this week with no lag one thing I had to do was to change the setting to making it think I was in USA to make Cortana work which I'm loving.

And if you don't like it you can go back to windows 7,8 or 8.1 and yes the start button is there lol

Appalling that we have to wait so long for computers to boot.

I'm Windows 7 32 bit, Core 2 Duo, 2.66Ghz and after tweaking I get 45 seconds to log-in screen or 1 minute 10 seconds until browser is up and running.

My first 3 computers booted up a lot faster than that 40 years ago!

Don't know what to do about Windows 10, this machine is too old to support it.

I reboot once a week, my pc sleeps after an hour, and hibernates after 4hrs. So the majority of the times, im up n running in seconds from sleep and under a min for hibernate.

And my pc is almost 4yrs old.

Waking up is the modern booting up.

Find the occasional problem with hardware or accessories when computers come out of from hibernation so I tend to avoid.

My computers on a UPS which draws quite a bit of power even when computer is off so I manually switch off.

4 years old is hardly out the box grin

Just ditched my old one from 95/96, DOS5 I think it was then. Upgraded it myself as time went on but it's just got too rickety and got a newy. Still seems to drag it's arris to what I was expecting but I'll get used to it. Probably it will be my last one anyway, too many peripherals that I don't need. Apps all over the place, load anything new and it's another set of passwords to get weighed off. I'm getting creaky myself now.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, 4Gb RAM, same CPU and an SSD and mine is at the login screen after about 20 seconds. Its a shade faster with 8.1

But you really don’t have to stay up. Unlike during the launch of its Windows 7 operating system, back in 2009, Microsoft isn’t encouraging fans to host launch parties smile

And its for them reasons "i'm out" lol

I'm truly old school and believe only in a clean install for a new Operating system. Upgrading has a track record of not being the smoothest.

How ever my little laptop has the word Test me on it now lol

If you are going through with it, back up any personal data that's pictures and documents before you hit the magic button.

Just to let everyone know that if you download windows 10 you Only have 30 days to change back to your old windows before windows 10 delete it.
