Hello peeps, I need a bit of help making a decision. Been saving for ages for a nice motor and at last ones caught my eye. Theres W-reg black pug 106 GTI in a reputable ford garage in clitharo it's had one (age 50+) owner from new and only has 11,000 miles on the clock, Its up for &6995 but the dealer said he'd take £6500 (slightly more than I wanted to pay)He also said that it was in mint condition. Thing is, if a buy the car and the insurance, Im going to be totally skint for months.
What do you guys and girls recon? Good deal or to highly priced? Lookin forward to your reply's YOU COULD SWAY THE DECISION!!!!

Peugeot 106 (96-04) 1.6 16v GTi 3dr Hatchback 3dr 2000-W Mileage 47,000 Prices Dealer £6,599 Private £6,321 Part Ex £5,813 Trade £5,651 Cost New £12,340
1587 120 24/20,000 13 Unleaded 33.2
As you can see, the price he is offering to you, is completly average according to "What Car?"
Personally, i wouldnt buy it for that price, Pug dont seem to hold their value to well, there are probs far better deals on other private sale cars.
Just my suggestion

Cheers ax_125, As soon as I drove a 106 gti I wanted one. It's been so hard to find a nice one within 60miles of where I live, trade or private (been looking for ages). But I suppose if I do wait something will eventually come up. The thing that Attracted me to it was that it had only done 11,00 miles.

Besides, AX's, Saxo,s and 106's are all basically the same car, so which ever one you get, wont notice much of a difference

£6500 sounds good for a car that has only got 11k on it. But £6500 also sounds alot for a 106Gti. You could get a Subaru Impreza on a 98 plate for that, or a manual FTO on a 95, depends on your insurance I suppose.

Get yourself a 106gti dude they're much less common hence more desireable and they have the same 1.6 16v engine as a VTS so cant be that much difference in speed. loads of saxo's have been modded an very few 106's thats why you should get one, to stand out and be different!

why not buy a cheaper 106 and get a GTI engine conversion? i know it may seem like a lot of trouble, but you may be able to save yourself some cash doing it that way......... or buy a quiksilver, theyre a 1.4 so theyre gonna be nippy and they look identical to the GTI. your choice mate, hope you make the right one. <img border="0" alt="[cwhelp]" title="" src="graemlins/cwemotions041.gif" />

Picked it up yesterday and brought it home, its truely fun to drive. Had a quick look round the car and by chance looked under the boot carpet (the spares under the car) and found a well hidden ACCIDENT!! repair form. One quick look over and a couple of phone calls to the previous owner and find out that it was involved in a minor accident before he part ex'd it (He'd forgot to mention it to the dealer). Straight on the phone to the dealer ranting and raving, they swear they knew nothing about it so offered me my money back. The car goes back 2moz and im gutted!!!
