I met two ladies whilst walking the dog today. They were heading for the new port sunlight riverside park. One of them thought she'd heard on the radio that it was open, although the official opening date is the 12th I think.
Was she right?

Was she right? The Park will be bigger and better thanks to Unilever 02 February 2014 An exciting new riverside park on the Wirral Peninsula is to be bigger and better thanks to an important agreement between Unilever and The Land Trust that will benefit thousands of people. The agreement means an extra eight hectares of land, around the size of ten football pitches, will be added to the Port Sunlight River Park, which is currently being created on the former Bromborough landfill site and is due to open this summer must be true

Officially opens 12 August at 1.30pm. But I know people who have been in already as security isn't exactly water tight.

The extra eight hectares, whilst welcome, are a rather awkward shape; a neck of land along the Dibbin as far as the A41. It would have been nice to get the derelict Unichema site as well. I don't know what plans have been made for its use. Housing i guess.
It will be interesting to see what landscaping can do to improve the extra land.
