Even the best trained dogs can turn. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tees-28408489A 73-year-old woman has died days after being bitten by a police dog. Irene Collins, of Park End, Teesside, was bitten several times about the body by the German shepherd as Cleveland Police searched for a male suspect near Penrith Road on Wednesday. She was taken to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, but the force has confirmed she died at the weekend.

What's wrong with dogs being muzzled when taken out for exercise in parks or on beaches? Especially the larger aggressive breeds

I have a German shepherd ,she never goes on the lead in open spaces ,she has never attacked anyone or any other dog .she has been attacked a few times and has never retaliated (she leaves that too me lol ) and I don't believe in muzzeling a well behaved dog .I know my dog well but I wouldn't leave her on her own with my grandson or any other children ,if you poked me in the eye or with a stick I would go wild so I gather my dog would too .

Many dogs have had a history of good behaviour before going bad. That's why dog attacks happen, dog owners always say "my dog wouldn't hurt a fly"
