In todays Wirral globe it's reported that theres a need to reduce staff by 500 people so as to save a total of 57 million (
500 jobs at risk as Wirral Council tries to save £57m by 2017

A FURTHER 500 jobs are at risk at Wirral Council as part of plans to save £57m.
)

but on a good note they have spent a pretty penny on the new loos

( WIRRAL councillors will be spending a penny in style after council chiefs approved spending almost £20,000 on refurbishing town hall toilets.

A Freedom of Information request revealed that more than £17,600 was spent on bringing the first floor toilets in Wallasey “up to a decent standard”.)

but the council can afford to stop funding our needed libraries and special schools IMHO kick all the councillors out and put general public in to run the borough

I'm starting to think that all the council spend money on are themselves & Hoylake . I see no evidence of it getting spent in Wallasey , except the Town Hall obviously.

Well how does that work ? If they attend, is it during working hours and why ? They will not be doing the job they are designed for . If they are on holiday, why are they entitled to free corporate hospitality.
If they aren't working, they should be taking holidays. but one way or the other, it's no different to last time and they won't be on their own.

The unfortunate is, that the Open at Wirral in 2006 was the forerunner to the first phase of job losses and so called 'cuts' in WMBC, which has to make one wonder ! I also wonder how many mobile phones will be issued for the use of to all those pumped up, 'I feel important' brigade , taxi's, free lunches and drinky poo's etc. all under the banner of hospitality.

There are volunteers to equip, feed, transport, clothe and train. all free to them obviously, but the councillors, of whom many are far less worthy have the pomp awarded, and will no doubt give Johnny a pat on the back for a 'good job done', after the event and at the same time hide from the bleak picture which they agree on, for the future job reductions to be administered.

Oh, and now WMBC have joined forces in certain ways with Liverpool, I imagine that there will be a fair bit of Corporate Hospitality for them too.

I would like to know what the cost for 'Policing' this event alone, comes to. It won't be a snip!

Perhaps its time to protest like the Brazilians did, . BBC usually do an aerial shot of the beach--so in huge letters spell out some suitable slogan. The French know how to protest but usually ends in tear gas. How about a poster campaigh on all the main routes where Golf traffic directed just to let them know what WBC up to.

Saw they were repainting all the road markings this evening from M53 up to Arrowe Park (one of the golf traffic routes). Want to make a nice impression for all the visitors whilst 500 locals lose there jobs.

It would be nice to know if they have painted the road markings on Clatterbridge Roundabout. Last time I was there at night,in the rain, it was impossible to see them. If we know where we are going, fine. If someone doesn't know the peculiar road layout, ..it could be nasty.

They are cropping up everywhere now, saw some ydy on the Wallasey side exit of the Kingaway Tunnel.

I think WBC should lay a bus on for attendees and show them the North East of Wirral en route to leafy Hoylake.

I am suggesting places to go, on Twitter for the toffs to go.

Embroidory- Birkenhead Market
Eaterys- the pound cafe in Birkenhead
Pubs- The Recession Bar

This morning, we are having a complete make-over on our main road, which is on the route for the golf traffic. Lovely ! Just a shame the local farmers didn't manage to cut their hedges, although there's still time,(it's all to do with right and wrong of times of nature) but it might just mess up the grass verges a bit.
It does look nice when it's all done, and we can show off our lovely Wirral at it's best.
