I don't suppose it's an old ferret is it, seems very unlikely it will be this one, as this one went missing nearly 3 years ago, https://www.wikiwirral.co.uk/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/592910/ferret_lost_moreton.html

I doubt it would survive for 3 years out I the wild, this is someone's very well looked after pet well fed and very very tame.

Hope it finds its home. Will you be able to keep it as a companion for yours Paul ?(as long as non breeding combo) , they so love to have company , and mostly mix very easily with new friends dont they. I always used to think that apart from the pong, they made delightfully entertaining pets . One black bin bag, two ferrets and you have a real funny show!

I've put posts up in the wirral lost pets page on Facebook, nothing as of yet and have rang every animal rescue place to see if they can home it temporary but no one will take him. I have a hob ferret and this is a hob too so I guess I could try to put them together. He is as tame as my own ferret, ran straight over to me last night standing up leaning on my leg so he has obviously been well handled etc

ps Im presuming they are both neutered (not vasectomized) when I said about trying them together , as if either isnt 'fixed' they may damage each other being the breeding season. Theyll probably grapple for dominance in any case which is normal. I had ten ferrets (mixed sexes)running together in my younger days , all neutered , and in an aviary space, so I suppose when we added various ones they had plenty of space and distractions. Always found rustley bags and old jumpers served well to amuse them though on introduction. Good luck Paul. (Perhaps you have a neutral space where you could introduce)

Both of these are entire (not neutered) I tried them together in a neutral Place this morning and they got on great, little bit of grappling here and there nothing major though. Just a bit of ferret play. They are both currently in the same hutch and seem to be getting on fine. Will keep an eye on them and if the owner doesn't come forward I'll keep him.

Used to have 13 ferrets at one point all in a huge enclosure, it was mental, again just the usual ferret pet rough housing but ferrets are tough little buggers.

That sounds promising doesnt it. How lovely if they now both have company and can have a play.As you say, keep your eyes open though! Brilliant little creatures arent they. Ours used to rush down the drainpipes in their run and ambush each other at the ends!

Yeah either way (owner claims or I keep him) he will be fine. Checked on them both before and they were curled up sleeping together so hopefully for the short or long term they will be fine.

They are great little animals have real good characters and always make you laugh

Cheers Kev, yeah the're happy together, mines a little unsure every now and then but he is knocking on now (6 years old) so having a younger ferret in there would do your head in a bit i guess.

Id have thought the owner would have noticed him missing by now and this forum would be my first call to look for a lost pet. But then again you don't know if he escaped, was let out or abandoned.

If he stays with me then its no problem and he will have a good life, we've called him Alan for now (long story why lol)

Awww thats great news Paul mate, im sure your older Ferrett will put Alan in his place if he P*sses him off too much! lol. Keep us updated on the situation mate.

When i used to live at my mum's, we had a very healthy and happy/playful Albino Ferrett come bouncing through the back door at 11:30pm one summers night, luckily the dogs were asleep and didn't notice it before we did, we knocked on every door in the close and surrounding roads looking for his owner and we spread the word around but no-one claimed him. We wanted to keep him but the house was heaving with pets from dogs to pet Rats so we got in touch with Ferrett Rescue and they came and picked him up. The guy that collected him said he would have no problem re-homing him as he had a lovely nature and was a real beauty. think he said he was about 3, that was about 13 years ago and still often wonder where he ended up and where he came from.

Hi I was wondering if you still have the hob that was found? I help reunite people with their missing ferrets also take in and rehome.
We have took in a Jill who was stray and while trying to track the owners to this one have been contacted by someone who has been missing their hob for just under 2 months they posted it on lost and found animal sites with no joy. I have a photo of this boy he is chunky part sable (polecat marked).
Thanks xx
