Do you know if this will fit and can be used on dell inspiron 1545 32 bit windows vista.
I put 4gb in 32bit vista pc and it would not boot up.

If you go onto the Dell website and type in your service tag number is should show you the specs of the machine, warranty etc, but it also shows you the upgrades available for your particular machine, so you should get a definite answer.

Personally I don't think it will work as I'm fairly sure the 1545 uses DDR2 memory and this is DDR3

Yep, the doc is correct:

MODULES MUST BE ORDERED AND INSTALLED IN PAIRS for Dual Channel mode.

If 4GB is installed, the recognized memory may be reduced to 3.5GB or less (depending on system configuration and memory allocation).

Standard Memory:

2GB (Removable) or
3GB (Removable)

Maximum Memory:

4GB

You need DDR2, 800MHz, Non-ECC, CL6, 1.8V, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 200-pin
