Hi, A friend of mine maybe buying the above property which is the old cottage on the corner of St Mary's St. (now converted into flats) He was just wondering if anyone has or knows any history of the cottages.Thanks in advance for any info..Nige.

The 1911 census has 11 Martins Lane as Lilac Bank Cottage, it had at that time, 10 rooms not counting the Bathroom or lobby.

I think they've mis-quoted the info re: the date stone. Pretty sure it was J and E under the letter D, not L and E, although the letters I and J were often interchangeable back then.

Most likely John & Elizabeth 'D', whatever the surname was. Couldn't say for sure though.
