YEP!

From April of 2014, CB Radio has added to it, completely legally, Single Side Band (SSB) and Amplitude Modulation (AM) modes.

The best/main difference will be, of course, that, with SSB/AM, CB Radio becomes legally INTERNATIONAL, and no longer just a local system!

If that doesn't breathe life back into CB Radio in the United Kingdom, then nothing can.

Ian.

Looked on Ebay and the Cb sellers seem to mention this.

Not used CB for over 20 years. Whilst SSB & AM may have interesting possibilities, how many countries use the same frequencies as the UK ? The old US channels were used world wide which gave the international contacts when conditions were right.
Are UK channels also european standard ?

Thanks skylarc.

I've honestly no idea about the European thing, Skylarc. It might be worth hanging around the CB RADIO UK Facebook page; the information is probably somewhere on there.

I think CB radio is well on its way to coming back, Ug.

If folk have CB equipment to sell and they, themselves, are not coming back to CB, this is a good time to start selling those pieces off.

If folk are coming back on, it might still be a good idea to use PMs to arrange times to catch others on there. It's important to get a few successful copies in during the first dozen tries, or so, or disappointment will follow.

We can do this...we can bring back Wirral CB Radio - this time, with AM, and USB/LSB.

It really can go back to the way it was, but some of the old problems on there will show up, again. We just have to be grown up and deal with them, with good ideas and determination.

Thanks for that Mr keyboard warrior, willo, I am aware it is an item for sale and have advertised the said item in the for sale section before only to be let down TWICE by YOURSELF after claiming to want to purchase the cb set.
I have added it to this thread incase any budding CBer's wish to buy a cheap set up after reading the thread.
I am sure you will have notified Mark the moderator and he will no doubt move the post to the for sale section in due course if he deems it appropriate.
Again WILLO I thank you for your concerns
