A WIRRAL MP is tabling questions in Parliament in a bid get to the truth about zero-hours contracts. Alison McGovern has been campaigning for the Government to act over the controversial employment deals, which are rife across the UK. Earlier this year Ms McGovern, with fellow MPs George Howarth and Luciana Berger, published a report which recommended a voluntary code of practice to stop the abuse of workers by unscrupulous employers. The contracts have caused an outcry because of growing concerns they are unfair and can be used to exploit staff. Source >>>

That's good of her but what about the years while Labour were in power that these were on the rise? There were 134,000 in 2006 and it was steadily increasing.
Or the 3000 workers on these contracts at Bury's Labour council, or the couple of thousand over in Doncaster?

So she should be applauded for trying to do something about it.
She gets paid £64,000 a year to help people, 13 years of Labour and two years away from the next General Election, I know what I think.

I think I know what you think also, it wouldn't be a problem if she was a Tory MP, or is it you don't think working people should have rights.

Working people should have and need rights, Labour had 13 years and allowed massive immigration and the EU to takeover the jobs the working people of this country should have had, they debased people calling them lazy and shirkers and called Poles and others hard working while paying them less than the lawful wage, the Torys can go to hell in a handcart for all Iam concerned hopefully pulled by Labour and the Libdems.
Two years and it's time to start pretending you love constituents that is until you get back in, then do as all these MP's do forget them for another 5 years.

Couldn't agree more with you, re: Immigration and EU, however, working peoples rights were eroding well before that and that erosion is continuing to a point where everyone should be concerned. God knows how many centuries we have to go back as far as rights go before the penny drops with some. Anyway, good luck to her.

So she should be applauded for trying to do something about it. No, she should have been applauded if she'd stood up and done something about it when her party was in power and letting it happen. But as usual they only come out of the woodwork when its safe to do so - just like those who now condemn Gordon Brown and his monetary policies yet blindly followed him at the time (Ed Balls I'm looking at you).

If she was an MP then, she probably would have done.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alison_McGovernHistory of this MP Bert1, expert in nothing, philosopher in nothing, out of uni into politics, makes her a professional politician, plenty of those zero's about, that's why we will never have rights for working people, they are always too busy making sure they have rights for MP's, when an MP works for just expenses paid directly by Parliament to staff and offices and works only for the public good then maybe they would be worth voting for but as all decision's are made by the unelected EU time the 640 were gotten rid off
