Yes - heard this in Tranmere near St Caths Hospital - sounded quite distant - thought there may have been a traffic incident - be interesting to identify this

Well, I hope this doesn't seem too far fetched but - is it possible for sound waves to reverberate off the atmosphere...
A massive explosion shook Kabul on Monday as fighting between Taliban militants and security forces raged in the centre of the Afghan capital, witnesses said. Two armed insurgents were killed by Afghan security forces in the battle, NATO said in a statement.The explosion at 11.20 am (0650 GMT) came amid a wave of gun and bomb attacks and clashes between Taliban-linked militants and security forces that has closed the centre of the city.

They are pulling one of the high rise down on the Woodchurch most probs the noise came from them dropping the lift shaft

I know they detonated at the scrap merchants in Seaforth docks, usually early in the morning. Could be this?
