To cut a long story short, my lad dropped his ipod touch and shattered the screen.
Ive repaired a couple of iphone screens in the past (3Gs ones)as well as replacing laptop screens etc so thought id have a go at fixing this and duly ordered a new screen from ebay.
Anyway this thing has got the beating of me and when I tried to replace the screen I cracked the damn thing.
I then took it down to Starlight mobile in Liscard who said he could fix it for £50. He then rang to say it was fixed, we went to collect it and were told that it hadnt been fixed but the volume ribbon??? also needed replacing and we were looking at around £100 to fix it- I of course told him to go forth and multiply, politely of course.
Have I been advised correctly here on costings etc and does anyone know where I can get this done at a more reasonable rate? Otherwise I think Id rather invest in a new one.
Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

You could try Dropping the Dr a Private Message. He may be able to help, but with risk there is cost.
There is also a few places in the Market place Birkenhead.
Get 3 quotes and then you will be in a better place to decide.

Cheers for your help. Actually I gave you a quote, on here, for fixing an iPod 4th digitiser back in March. You said then that Starlight had quoted £50, I told you that it was £38 at my place. I don't always answer pm's straight away, sometimes I need to find out prices first, and then, even when I do, and I explain how much, why, what is being done, all of which takes time, I don't hear anything back. I don't chase every question, if I did I'd spend my entire day here, and not being able to mention the business name etc does make it a little awkward Just back to your question at the beginning. Volume ribbon, if done at the same time as the Digitizer should be about £65 for the whole job.
