Not sure if you know about these allready peeps, but best be safe than sorry!!! Not sure if you know about these allready peeps, but best be safe than sorry!!!
I have Been reliably informed of the following:
The new electronic signs on the M6 were switched on this Tuesday.
The bad news is that they are rigged with the SPECS speed cameras. This probably apllies to all the new signs being installed on the M62, M60, and M56. SPECS is a computer-camera based system. As you go past the sign a digital camera reads your number plate. When you go past the next sign your number plate is read again.
The computer "knows" how far apart the signs are so it can work out your average speed between the two, or three or four!!
The system is fully automatic and will issue a ticket without any form of human intervention.
It does this for every single vehicle that passes.
You will not know you have been caught as the cameras don`t flash. They work 24/7, 365 days a year, and theoretically, theres absolutely no limit on the number of tickets that the system can issue.
The whole section of the M6 between Knutsford and Preston is wired, both ways.
The system is set to trigger a ticket at 78MPH (Don`t take this as a guarentee). Radar detectors will be of no use as SPECS is entirely passive, there is no lasar beam to detect.
Be warned and spread the news!!!

Where is the system in operation? Permanent SPECS systems are now operating in Nottingham, Northampton and Gloucester: A616 Stocksbridge Bypass in South Yorkshire Nottingham Phase 1 - A610 & Ring Road Nottingham Phase 2 - Extension of Nuttall Rd A610 Nottingham Phase 3 - Extension of Western Boulevard South, Ring Rd Nottingham Phase 4 - Extension of Western Boulevard North, Ring Rd A43 Lumbertubs Way, Northampton Linden & Podsmead, Gloucester - Residential area Temporary roadworks throughout the country currently using the SPECS system include. M62 J18 Hybrid, Cheshire M6 Thelwall Viaduct, Cheshire So where in there does it mention the WHOLE of the M6 or the WHOLE of the M62 hell there isn't any mention of M60 or M56

LOL..he's.pulling.your.leg.lad,,,Its.all.bullsh1t Only.specs.cameras.are.on.the.thelwall.viaduct, where.the.roadworks.are. The.email.everyone.has.been.sent.is.an.exact.copy of.one.that.was.sent.round.ealier.in.the.year regarding.the.M4. Speed camera warning 'a hoax' By Malcolm Prior BBC News Online, Berkshire
An email claimed the system contained speed cameras Rumours that a £16m motorway congestion warning system has been hiding the latest hi-tech speed cameras have been refuted. The police, the AA and road safety chiefs have all dismissed as a hoax an email claiming that hi-tech signs on the M4 contained the Specs system, digital equipment that works out drivers' average speed between cameras.
In October, transport minister Kim Howells launched the congestion warning scheme - which detects slow-moving or stationary traffic and displays electronic warnings - between junctions 12 and 14 of the motorway.
Since then an email has been sent round warning that the Specs system has been launched, working 24 hours a day and with "absolutely no limit on the number of tickets that it can issue".
AA spokesman We had heard of the email and it is a complete load of rubbish
The rumours have led Speed Check, the firm behind the Specs cameras which are used at a number of UK sites, to issue a firm denial.
A spokesman said: "Speed Check has received a number of enquiries in relation to a hoax email.
"It has been implied that a Specs system has been installed on the M4.
"Speed Check would like to assure all interested parties that there are currently no Specs systems in place on the M4."
An AA spokesman told BBC News Online: "We had heard of the email and it is a complete load of rubbish.
The rumours have been blamed on the fact that there are two CCTV cameras operating as part of the system.
But they are there to monitor if the signs are working correctly and the traffic itself.
A statement from Thames Valley Police read: "There are no speed cameras and no Specs cameras in the signs.
"The only involvement Thames Valley Police has is to change the messages on the signs according to the conditions to give up-to-date information."

Okay you may argue where the spec camera's are or are not but why are they only 1 miles apart?
Think about it?
There designed to make sure you keep to a speed limit over a distance of 1mile, over time.
If they wanted to curve speeding on the motorways why not have them at every entry and exit on a motorway, then there would be no empty pockets to spped in?
Obviously there is the cost issue but besides that why only 1 mile ?

I bloody hate these things...alls it means is another bill, GPS based speedtrap detector, normal radar snooper, and I'll have to get radar diffusers! two per bloody car@!@"!@£"
I suppose that's every angle covered...but it's almost a grand a car, just to not have to take my eyes off the road every couple of minutes, (and therefore breaking my concentration), to check my speed and to look for those friggin' cameras.
If the goverment pile the specs cameras on the motorways, that'll force speeding onto the (not very well lit, and not very well kept A-Roads,(where's my road tax going? Oh yeah building speed bumps, to rip the front of my cars off even when I'm travelling 5mph!), and the normal streets.
Speed cameras are dangerous, how many of us have been in a new town, *just* seen a Gatso in time and slammed on? Emergency stops arn't too safe, what if it's icy? The cameras need to be ditched, or turned into a national sport, whoever goes through them the fastests gets a prize. (That's a joke). The speed limits need to be revised. Some in-town roads need the speed limit lowering to 20mph, and some need highering to 40, maybe more. I think the UK Motorway should be like the autobahn. Go as fast as you like. But the police should still be hot on dangerous driving don't get me wrong, but the way we're currently doing it is all wrong.
The Specs cameras by the way, work on average speed. So if you go through one too fast...just slow right down for the rest of the way and your average speed will be way down, and thus no-ticket! Everyone knows that anyways, so I don't know why I said it again. hehe.
Sorry about the rant...I just hate the cameras@!#
