Hi-Tech speed cameras are being hidden in cats eyes in a sneaky move to trap speeding drivers. Drivers have already been filmed by the cameras which can be used to check Speed, Read Number Plates and monitor tyre pressure. But last nite the government insisted the new technology will not become another way of catchin drivers. Bosses behind the Intelligent Road Study (IRS) proudly claim the cameras can be used to warn of dangers on the the road ahead. But the admit if they catch speeders, the cars NUMBER PLATE can be automatically shown on a massive electronic sign over the road. AN AA Spokesman said: The (IRS) is beneficial if it is just used to alert drivers to any dangers further down the road. "It must not be allowed to replace existing speed cameras" Write Your Views Below :go: :go: :go:

I actually think that they are a good idea,i dont agree with making more money for the goverment they have more than enough already. I think something needs to be done to prevent the speeding motorist,if you want to speed then find a track or an organized event. The money taken for speeding should be given to a charity that deals with victims of high speed drivers, there alot of people out there that need specialised equiptment after being left paralised or worse the money made could go to those people that greatly need it.

Take care.Sal.

They can't detect if the driving is dangerous or not. Accidents are very rarely to do with speeding, they're to do with people who are not in control of their car. The police can see how you're driving, if you're being reckless on the road, cameras cannot, you're fined or not. The law on speeding is absolute, if you are 1 mile an hour over 30 or 70 you are breaking the law, but ultimatly it's the police-man's choice if you get done, not a machine. This is the way things should be done. I don't think the police should have any calibrated speed reading equipment in their car, just their judgement on how well you're driving.

whats next, something to check what colour underwear we have on? checking tyre pressure seems a bit odd, how could they check that by us driving over a cats eye?

It does seem strange when you would only drive over a cats eye when crossing lanes! and unless evey cats eye had this invention then chances are you wouldn't even go over one.
This all seems a bit extravagant to me!
