It was continuous but it was in pattern so i doubt it was anything reversing, last night it was a high pitch blast followed by a low pitch blast then a break of ten seconds then it would sound again.

that video was soooooo good. It almost brought tears to my eyes as it reminded me of many years ago when I lived in Hr Tranmere and could hear that from my bedroom, I could almost smell the river too watching that clip! Hi Elizabeth, how are you. Very cold here and as you note fog on the river. Did you see Wench's pics of the foggy river in the last couple of days. They are brilliant. Keep warm. Hello Granny, yes I saw the photos of the foggy river yesterday, they reminded me of the ending credits of the film Mary Poppins when she flies away  Am coming over to UK on Sunday for 9 days so hopefully it will have warmed up a tad by the time I get there or I'll have to bring my thermals!
