My daughter has recently moved. In the previous flat her Freeview signal was excellent but is very poor in this one. She has a Toshiba Regza tv with built-in Freeview but the occupants before her had satellite and the dish and cables are still there. The landlord sent a maintenance guy to check it out and he has rigged it up using an old Sky digibox, somehow. But still things break up in bad weather and she cannot get as many channels as before.
Any advice or suggestions would be very welcome.

She'll only be getting the FTA (free-to-air) channels on the Sky box.

She's essentially got 4 options:
Buy an internal aerial.
Buy a Freesat box.
Get a Freesat from Sky viewing card or box.
Subscribe to Sky.

Thanks for your reply, little pob. I do know that she has been considering an indoor aerial, that, I assume would be the cheapest option. Any ideas on which one to recommend?

I'd get an amplified aerial - that's one that has batteries in. I got one from Wilkinson's several years back for about £15. I use it for the spare telly in the upstairs room and it works very well.

Something like this will probably do very well:

As she's already got the box and dish, at £25 the Freesat from Sky viewing card isn't much more than an indoor aerial: http://www.sky.com/shop/freesat/home/faq/#3

I'd go for the indoor aerial suggested from amazon/argos,its the only one that i tried out of 4 that worked, with no picture break up at all.

She will still have picture break up in bad weather with the freesat viewing card.
