Can you give the full part number off the bottom of the lap top. It may be something like dv1066ea

Any 2.5 inch hard drive will work. Willo was selling a huge 500 gig one for about 40 quid. U just need to know if it is Sata or IDE.

Yes, prices seem to have shot up again, in fact some pata drives are cheaper than sata again.

Ya that's because HDD production was reduced by about 80% last year due to floods in production countries..

just put it to one side for now, production of drives will ramp up again and by June next year they'll be cheap as chips again.

Mate I have a 40 gig Sata drive. I was going to use it in a small caddie for backing up pics. U can have it for 10.

Thanks Smartchild for the offer I got one from my nephew who has 4 lap tops in various states of cannibalism. Amazing the stuff we all keep "just in case".
