Is there anyone here who deals with/knows about Webasto diesel heaters ? Got a problem with the unit (Airtop 2000) in the Pinz. Won't go into boring details unless there's someone about who's likely to know what I'm droaning on about ! ha.ha.
The nearest dealer is many gallons away and it's megabucks for a "Good Morning Sir" for starters.
Anyone ?????

Well........ if you insist... Did a test firing up today. Fan in unit running. Metering pump silent. Error code flashing seven. Book of words for code seven says "Metering Pump-short circuit". Dings out connections from unit to pump. Meter says OK. Not open circuit and not short circuit. Have pulled all connections apart - clean and tight. Tank (aux.) full of nice fresh red diesel. Tried the technical fix (tw*t pump with small knocking stick) No joy.
I had the unit apart last year to fit a new burner assy in. Did it OK but not a barrel of laughs to strip and reassemble. Not gripped by doing it again if it can be avoided.

Have you checked the connections from the dosing pump where it plugs into the heater (should be a black wire, second set of contacts along in a group of five). The unit itself sounds as if it is working okay unless something is throwing up a rogue code from the temprature controlller, this would turn the pump off but shouldn't cause the short code unless something was making the pump jam.
Is the dosing pump running freely or is it something as simple as it's jammed and throwing out an open circuit error ?
Check the cabling to the pump itself, it can get hot and even if you get a reading through it when testing under load it can be shorting.

If it's a Webasto, it'll be leaking.

Thanks for the help/suggestions folks. I'm going to attack it again today and undo and ding out all the wiring. lonenickle - you have a PM. Littlebear - the Blutack and Sellotape doesn't seem to work! ha.ha.
It was a pre-winter check to make sure it was working OK. The winter snows are at least a week away, so no worries !
