A 72-year-old florist has been arrested after a man was stabbed to death in a robbery at a Greater Manchester shop.
Police were called to the shop in Shrewsbury Street, Old Trafford, at 21:40 BST on Tuesday.
A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and died a short time later.
Shop owner Cecil Coley was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is being held on suspicion of murder.
Police also said a man, aged 19, presented himself at Manchester Royal Infirmary with stab wounds on Tuesday and was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Both he and Mr Coley were expected to remain in hospital overnight and will be taken into police custody on Thursday. Good on him! Yes it's not right, but who gives a fook, 2 young scumbags trying to rob an old man's livelyhood, a place he has made a living in for over 40 years. Shame he only got one of them, but hopefully the other scumbag won't be in a hurry to go on the rob again following his inevitable slap on the wrist. As a gun was found at the scene, it will be interesting to see if it is linked to the incident. Could turn out it was an armed robbery? BBC News Report

Lets just hope the old fella gets everything against him dropped and the theiving ... get put away to get stabbed somewhere else in prison

They always are. Same as idiots that get killed because they run out in front of a car/bus/train etc are always "intelligent".

Good on the elderly man. Its assumed nowadays that robbers are armed and therefore when they break-in, its then 'with reasonable force' that people protect themselves. I wonder if it will be the same stupid judge that tagged the lady with the lame dog? Wonder what the outcome will be - afterall, there were 2 of them. Unfortunate he died, but hey, he would have probably killed the elderly man otherwise.
