DIRECT SERVICE AM SINGLE £1.60 RETURN £2.50
EVENING SERVICE PM SINGLE £2.50 RETURN £3.50

Figure this, last week you could get the ferry one way for £1.55 in the evening if you lived in Liverpool. Now the price has gone through the roof for an evening commute.

Tonight i arrived a Seacombe to be told of the increase and i informed them i wasn't going to pay or use the service any more and cycled to Hamilton Square to get the marginally cheaper train service.

Having been on the service in the evening, it doesnt really surprise me, im more surprised they are actually still in business tbh, as sometimes they are simply dead in the evenings!

Wow I thought the ferry's where just a traditional novelty tourist attraction. I didn't know people still actually used them for serious travel.

Unlike the rest of the transport systems - the ferries made a profit AGAIN this year.

I have a soft spot for the Ferries. Without them Wallasey wouldn't haven't grown in the 1880's which resulted in many houses being built and New Brighton becoming popular for tourists. With dwindling numbers I suppose its going to be evitable that prices will increase.

Just a shame that eventually all the Transport systems will increase there fares this year. Less money in paypackets.

£2.50 one way on the bus to birkenhead from new ferry! or £4.20 day ticket which is cheaper if you use the bus a few times in the day.

That seems a mad pricing structure - a day ticket cheaper than a return???

Yeah Mel gets em when she is working in the CAB, either £5.40 to Wallasey and back, or a day ticket for £4.20! You do the maths lmao! And on top of that, she was, until last week, attending Uni on the same days, so it would have been costing a further £2.60 from Wallasey to Liverpool. so £8.00 vs £4.20.

Those day tickets are certainly worth it, though having said that, you can get a saveaway for £4.60 and that covers the trains and First buses as well!! Though the day ticket on the buses covers the whole of the northwest and wales iirc?

Stupid pricing, I guess its more about getting the average spend per customer higher, but its outrageous when you think one stop on a train/bus can cost about £2.00 nowadays.

I remember, when I was a kid, Leasowe - Bidston station was 15p, now I dunno what the child fare is now, or what the adult fare was then, but the adult fares where around double the child fare. Im sure the last time I checked, it was like £1.50 to do the same route as an adult.
