No the dealer offered me £3100 and would no doubt add his £1500 profit to that price and add a few hundred for the haggle factor and 99% of dealers use CAP as industry standard as like the guide you have used has quoted for a 4dr saloon not hatchback

Are you stupid? Who mentioned £4995? You said your asking £1000 less than a dealer. You want £3995 and a dealer only wants £3300 therefore you want £695 MORE than a dealer! Are you looking to buy the car? He can sell it for 20,000, it's his car, get down the auction otherwise.

Of course it matters. I wouldn't like to see somebody from this site getting ripped off  Chief, you can ask what you like for your items, the dealers get them well cheaper than your estimat yet they sell them for however much they like, at least this guy buying from him you know the cars history. Dealers don't care they just want a sale so will fill you with any crap.

Exactly, there is constructive comments to help a sale, but at the end of the day a seller can ask what they want for an item. If they have the price wrong then it wont sell simples, but the seller is entitled to ask what they want...
