Do you remember when?
Do you have a storey to tell of days gone by in the picture?

I went to St John's school behind the church, the front face of which is just left of the bay windows of the first shop. This was about 1940-45. It was a big Victorian place with sliding partitions between the classes and ruled by Miss Noonan, very strict. Miss Dowling was a nice teacher. The toilets were open-air, across the cinder playground, grim in the winter!
The children from St Edmund's Orphanage went there too, filing down Bebington Road from Heath Road. Did they do the journey 4 times a day as I don't remember any school dinners there!
