It also makes me laugh when some of the people who bitch about speed limits are the first to kick off about how the Police should have done something when one of their loved ones or friends is hit by a speeding car. Different story then isn't it!!
Exactly my point: speed limits ARE in place but they or police hiding behind bushes don't stop these accidents, do they? We still have "speeding cars" and we always will, whatever we do, because you can't legislate against "STUPIDITY"...

No, you're quite right - I agree 100%.
Some drivers always think that they know better or that they're an excellent driver etc.
It's no different to driving bans - some will still drive even though they are banned.
I guess the Government think that if they hit the drivers where it hurts, i.e. in the pocket with speeding fines, that they are less likely to do it again.
Sometimes Police Officers give more than just speeding tickets!

Agreed indeed...! ...as you can probably guess, my main issue is with the (obviously) too-low-for-the-road-in-question speed limits - and their use as a source of revenue, which I really find immoral and hypocritical when it's repeatedly claimed to be "solely for road safety reasons".. yerrrr right!

FFS we all know this stretch of road. It's like a bloomin runway! It's a wide road with wide pedestrian walk ways and mature trees. The road has no sharp bends. As such driving along the road may well make you go a bit faster than you had in mind simply because your brain has no warning signals to make you slow down. It is a safe road-if you disagree please show how many accidents have happened recently.

Strange, I can always maintain a good 30ish along this road, without any issues or cruise control doing the work etc... You should check your speedo once in a blue moon and learn how your car feels/engine sounds and responds, at ~30mph if you keep exceeding 30 along the road. I know when im putting my foot down a little more than I should, and if I can hear the how the engine is responding in a car so refined as the 75, im pretty sure anyone else can!! It seems to me that some people are just looking for some sort of argument/excuse for breaking the law here; speeding is breaking the law, don't do it, and if you get caught doing it, accept the consequences. I knew I put my foot down a bit when I got done for speeding, I ccould'nt see the busy as he had the doors on his van open and no flurescent jacket, but I just paid the fine, took the points, and got on with life - I was the one breaking the law by speeding, he was just doing his job. Life's a bitch, I am known for driving like a priest, the one time I put my foot down, I get caught for it haha, typical my bloody luck when some of my mates can't drive at anything less than 10mph over the limits, but it is just that, the luck as to whether you get caught or not. The same people who tend to moan about speed enforcement targetting innocent (law-breaking) drivers, are the same people who tend to moan about all the young lads who go speeding everywhere and how there isnt enough done about it etc!!

Just warning people to be aware, it's impossible not to drift over 30. Wasn't intending this to turn into some silly rant about what's perfect. We're all criminals if that's the case.
