'The New Brighton Hotel', later known as 'Laceys' now known as Peggy's Gadfly's on Victoria Road is probably the 'oldest'. It was one of three that was mentioned in 1840. The other 2 being the Albion Hotel and the Victoria Hotel. The Little Brighton Inn on upper Rownson Street dates to 1845.

The Cheshire Cheese is reputed to be the oldest licence premises in Wallasey. Although the current Victorian building only dates back to 1885, there has been a pub on the site since the early 1600's. It has been reported that King William stayed at (ye Olde) Cheshire Cheese the night before he sailed to Ireland prior to the Battle of the Boyne, but there are many other establishments on the Wirral claiming the same.

Shamelessly copied from the net.

Wasn't the Marine opposite Seacombe Ferry supposed to have been the oldest standing pub before it was demolished? Any info on it would be interesting.

Reason for edit: I forgot a bit!
