Does anyone know anything about a possible murder in Fairfield Road???
My mum was woken to the sound of a car crashing into a neighbours wall after 2 cars went head to head trying to get down this narrow road, one lost out to a brick wall but it seems the police may have uncovered more than just a crash, according to my mother, who is currently bedbound!!

Two arrested as part of murder investigation after Wirral man is stabbed POLICE have arrested two men on suspicion of murder following the death of a 30-year-old man in Birkenhead last night. At around 11.20pm, officers were called to a disturbance in Crofton Road. At the same time, they received reports of a collision between a silver Ford Transit van and a number of parked vehicles in nearby Fairfield Road. On arrival, they found the driver of the van seriously injured by a single stab wound. The driver was taken to hospital where he later died. A Home Office Post Mortem will be carried out later today to establish the cause of death. Two men aged 30 and 35, both from the Tranmere area have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody awaiting interview from detectives. The investigation is at an early stage but officers are working to establish the connection between the two scenes. The scene has been sealed for forensic examination and house to house enquiries are on-going. A highly-visible police presence will remain in the area to provide reassurance to the public. Anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information about it is asked to contact Birkenhead CID on 0151 777 2263 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Wirral Globe

the knife crime is getting worse than better something needs to done . The earliest anything can be done, is when Gordon Brown grows some balls and dissolves parliament. Maybe then, we can vote for a government that punishes criminals instead of awarding and praising them.

Be interesting to hear what actually happened. Maybe someone took offence to the guy crashing into their car?
Perhaps he already had the wound and that is why he lost control?
I heard about this earlier today and logged on to see if anyone knew.
Maybe the head to head that was mentioned got so heated...
Too early to speculate really but its only human nature!

UPDATE: Man stabbed to death near Merseyside home A MURDER investigation was underway today after a man was stabbed to death at a house on Merseyside. The victim was found bleeding heavily in his silver transit van around the corner from where he was attacked in the Tranmere area of Birkenhead.
The man was taken to hospital shortly before midnight but died of his injuries.
It is understood the victim had earlier visited the home of a man at the junction of Park Road and Crofton Road at around 11.20pm to fix his TV satellite box.
Moments later the 30-year-old staggered from the house and jumped into his parked van.
He drove the van down the adjacent Fairfield Road but crashed into a number of parked cars before coming to a halt. This morning the van was abandoned on the pavement while another vehicle, a silver Renault, was rammed into the wall of a home directly opposite. One neighbour said: "We heard a loud bang and came rushing out. "There was a man badly hurt sitting in the driver’s seat of the van. Nobody was in the Renault. "I called the ambulance while somebody else went over to the van to see if they could help him." A large blue tent could be seen today outside the house in Park Road where the victim is thought to have been stabbed. It is just 50 yards from the entrance to Well Lane Primary School and a further 100 yeards away from the police station on Well Lane. The victim was said to have two young children, aged one and six, and worked at the local car wash business. One local added: "He was a lovely bloke who has two young kids. He’d only gone round to fix a TV box late at night. "We’re all stunned this has happened." Two men from the Tranmere area, aged 30 and 35, were arrested in connection with the stabbing. They will be quizzed today A post mortem was due to be carried out to establish the cause of death. A police spokesman said: "The scene has been cordoned off for forensic examination and enquiries are ongoing in the area. "Detectives believe this was an isolated incident but a high visibility police presence will remain in the area to provide reassurance to the public." Anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anyone acting suspiciously, or has any other information is asked to call Wirral CID on 0151 777 2263 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. THE WIRRAL NEWS

Maybe then, we can vote for a government that punishes criminals instead of awarding and praising them. Should be a five year minimum sentence for carring a knife! Just like a gun! NO EXCUSES! Will never happen under this government; they go on about the Tories being a bunch of "toffs", trying to play their pathetic class war, when in reality, the party most out of touch is Labour; they don't seem to have a fkin clue regarding the issues that affect people every day, instead they would rather concentrate on international terrorism, probably because a lack of results in this field is to be expected. The prison sentences they hand out for gun crime and the like are pathetic in all honesty!! I watched Tonight last week about ASBO shit, and the government don't have a clue, they are so out of touch it is unreal, the home secretary just played the usual "we are working to sort things out" game, the same game they have been playing for the past 12 years without any change. The only reason crime is lower nowadays, is because people simply cannot be arsed reporting it anymore, because they know nout will get done. Can't blame the plod or the courts, its legislation that has to change, its about time they started working in the interests of general public rather than the criminals. And it made me sick the other week, when the government were critisizing China for thier justice system, a man was sentenced to death two years ago, so he was killed, you get life in China, you live the rest of your life in prison, you get life here and your very unlucky if your not out in 12 years time!! They need to sort their own back yard before critisizing other nations!!

I heard they were abolishing the half-way early release scheme this year and that all the sentence shall be served due to the re-offending rates. Thats a good thing, but the bad thing is they were saying rather than imprison people for petty crime such as theft/shoplifting/driving offences they were going to give more community work out due to the vast population and overcrowding in the prisons. That will result in more theft, driving offences and other petty crime due to the light sentences!

Why do they carry out these highly-visibity patrols in the area AFTER an incident. it does not solve anything or stop anything.

To re-assure the public; if a murder happens in an area, there is bound to be some worry and concern from local residents over their safety, the igh visability presence of police does go a long way to re-assure them that they are as safe as can be. Over time, the worry and concern of residents fades, like everything in life, so the need for a highly visable police presence to provide re-assurance fades with it.
