Small Update...

Today the Electric wing mirror switch was fixed (Finally)

New wing mirror attached so I can finally see whats on the outside of me happy

Had a go at trying to fix my heater matrix.. so I can change the blower temperature. I ended up seperating the cable from the dial to the matrix itself.. not before setting the blowers to something quite cool... which is a kind of bonus I suppose. In the process, got the AirCon working... so overall a happy bunny laugh

Anyway, unfortunately I think its gonna have to be a Dashboard removal job to get that sorted... which Im not looking forward to... but meh... what can ya do.

Ive also bought some T-Cut finally... so gonna have a go at trying to match the spoiler's color with the rest of the car raftl

After all, she's worth it.

I've been to the point of nearly throwing in the towel!!!

But as you said earlier, when you stand back and look - you think "she stays" and you pay her even more attention.

Hells yea. I realised other day theres 350 more Lotus Carltons in the world than there are of these... cant just give up on her like that.

Its little jobs like these that I enjoy though, seem like a pain.... but huge satisfaction when its sorted.

Unlike this Head Gasket/Oil Leak/Blown Piston Ring/Valv stem seals problem... just aint got the money to fix... or resources to do myself

Just received possibly the worst news I could get atm...

Been quoted £1500 to fix Piston rings etc etc and all the problems that have come about since the headgasket went.

Dont have the resources, space or experience on the Twin Spark to do it myself.

Not financially viable to keep the car cry cry cry cry

Tbh man... theres a lot that needs doin to it, and I dont have the money to sort all the problems out.

State its currently in, wont pass MOT.. I think best bet is to try nd sell it to someone who will do the bits required.. cos theyll get a good car..

Or sell it to an idiot and plead innocence on everything thats wrong.

Cheers anyway happy

Thats not the spirit thumbsdown

Thought you had a degree in motorsport?

Perfect learning curve - sort out your own engine.

Provided it doesnt cost more than the car does (like mine did) and the body work is in good nick, then its worth doing as you know the engine will last

Thats the problem though... Will cost more than the car did.
If this gets sorted out... £600 will have been spent buying the thing.. and another £2400 to fix it up when things go wrong..

In good nick, these cars ar worth about 2K. Throwing money into a bottomless pit. The damage has been done, and whose to say once sorted.. something else wont go wrong cos of the headgasketness.

I need another Alfa though. I cant just go out and buy an Escort, Astra or Corsa etc..

Try and find a job... get a loan and buy a brand new 147 or something.. before the 149 is released ??

Well... having driven back from Peterborough the other day.. Car needed topping up with oil Twice.

A lot more smokey than usual, very down on power.. and sounds rough as a badgers arse... so I think the poor alfa is about to die.

I hate being in this situation...knowing whats wrong..but being unable to do anything about it. May have to be a new Car jobby, too much damage to the engine now to have it repaired I think.

Already got my eye on one... but I will let you guess and talk amongst yourselves with that one happy
